If you are a fan of 4x games in general, Civilization in specific, don’t mind a lack of live opponents and don’t yet own the first one, SMC:R2 is an easy recommendation, Unfortunately, we’re not really sure how many people fit that narrow demographic. This was something that could be reasonably overlooked in 2012, but we’re living in a networked world, and we’re all networked boys and girls…the omission is glaring here, especially with the lack of any other real content improvements to shore up this rather blatant whole. Still, at $14.99 for the package, this one is cheaper than its fully decked-out predecessor. There are absolutely no IAPs to be found here, but the same was true for the first year of the life of the first game, and look how that ended up. The main difference between this version and the previous one is that the high price is all-inclusive…at least in theory. Currently tapping that just calls up a scenario that casts you as the rebels of the American Revolution in theory more will be forthcoming as time goes on, but there was nothing definite at presstime. There’s also a “live events” mode new to this iteration. It gives you only the barest of outlines of the gameplay, but covers all the essentials.
